Product Description

?ÿ A stylized mosque is the dominant feature of Afghanistanƒ??s state emblem. The importance to a mountainous and partially arid country of subsistence agriculture carried on in small fertile valleys and high plateaus is marked by the garland if wheat ears encircling the central design and rising to the dome of the mosque. At the base of the emblem the sheaves are bound together with a ribbon. No specific colors have been established for the emblem. Black on white backgrounds and white on colors is customary usage. For the Afghans, black, a color with affirmative connotations for Asian people, recalls historic banners. The red, derived from royal flags of earlier time stands for sacrifice for nation and family. Green, a traditional color of Islam, symbolizes both the fertility of Afghanistanƒ??s valleys and the perennial renewal of hopes for peace and concord. ?ÿ Symbols of the Nations, 2 ?ÿ
