Product Description

?ÿ Two versions of Andorraƒ??s state flag are in use. The one most often seen is derived from a version adopted in 1806 with the red and yellow colors of the French Protector, the count of Foix. When a patronage was transferred to the Count of Bearn in 1866 a blue stripe was added to make up the now customary vertical tricolor of stripes of equal width, blue at the hoist followed by yellow and red. The state coat of arms is centered in the yellow stripe. Since there are no formal regulations for the flagƒ??s design, a variation is sometimes used. It is a horizontal tricolor with blue at the top, then a yellow bar, and a red bar at the bottom. In some versions, a red coronet centered in the yellow stripe recalls the special relationship with Foix. ?ÿ Symbols of the Nations, 8 ?ÿ
