Product Description

?ÿ The lion represents not only the wildlife of the region but also the Ngwenyama (the King), while its partner, the elephant, stands for the Ndlovukazi (the Queen Mother); together they symbolize the nationƒ??s strength and solidarity. The shield, bright blue in color, displays three warrior symbols of the Swazi, inhabitants of this irregular land (whose terrain varies from low tropical plains and high plateaus to mountain peaks four thousand feet in height). They are insignia of the Emasotsha regiment: a black and white inner shield (oval, with pointed ends), silver tipped gold spears, and a betasseled staff. The tassels are made from the feathers of the lourie bird; they mark the charges as royal. Centered on the red band is in the Emasotsha black and white warriorƒ??s shield superimposed upon the spears and staff of the same regiment, with blue feather tassels indicating royal ownership. ?ÿ Symbols of the Nations, 252 ?ÿ
