3×5' nylon national flag of Cambodia.
Cambodia's flag carries a building, and not just any building. Angkor Wat, the twelfth-century temple that is the largest religious monument on earth, has appeared on every Cambodian national flag since about 1850, through monarchy, republic, and revolution.
Design
Three horizontal bands of blue, red and blue, the red band twice the height of each blue one. Angkor Wat is shown in white at the center, with its three visible towers.
History & Symbolism
The present design was first adopted in 1948 and restored on 29 June 1993, when the monarchy returned after decades of war. Blue stands for the king, red for the nation, and white for religion, together expressing the national motto "Nation, Religion, King." Angkor Wat stands for the integrity, justice and heritage of the Khmer people.
