3×5' nylon national flag of Gabon.
Gabon's flag is a portrait of its geography. The equator runs straight through the country, and the gold band at the center of the flag marks it between the green of the rainforest and the blue of the Atlantic.
Design
Three equal horizontal bands of green, yellow and blue.
History & Symbolism
The flag was adopted on 9 August 1960, days before independence from France. Before that, a similar flag with a narrower yellow band carried the French tricolor in the canton. Green stands for the forests that cover most of the country, yellow for the equator and the sun, and blue for the sea.
Flag Specifications

Vexillographer's Note
Gabon's official 3:4 ratio makes it one of the squarest national flags in Africa. Ours is made in the standard 3×5' size for display alongside other flags.
