3×5' nylon national flag of The Gambia.
The Gambia is a country shaped by a river, a narrow strip of land on either bank of the Gambia River, and its flag puts that river right through the middle.
Design
Three horizontal bands of red, blue and green, with the blue band edged above and below by narrow white stripes.
History & Symbolism
The flag was adopted at independence from Britain on 18 February 1965 and was designed by Louis Thomasi. Red stands for the sun and the savanna, blue for the Gambia River, and green for the forests and farmland. The white stripes stand for unity and peace.

Vexillographer's Note
Unusually for its region, the Gambian flag avoids any reference to a political party, a choice meant to make it a flag for all citizens.
