3×5' nylon national flag of Georgia (the country in the Caucasus).
Georgia's "Five Cross Flag" is a medieval banner revived for a modern republic. Five red crosses on white have been linked to the Georgian kingdom since the Middle Ages, and the design returned as the national flag after the Rose Revolution of 2003.
Design
A white field with a large red cross of St George, and in each of the four quarters a smaller red bolnur-katskhuri cross, with arms that widen toward their ends.
History & Symbolism
The flag draws on banners recorded in medieval Georgia and on the cult of St George, the country's patron saint. It was used by the United National Movement during the Rose Revolution and adopted by parliament on 14 January 2004. The red cross stands for Christianity, and the white for innocence and purity.
