3×5' nylon national flag of Lebanon.
The cedar of Lebanon has been a symbol of the land for three thousand years, praised in the Psalms and used to build Solomon's temple. On the national flag it stands for holiness, eternity and peace.
Design
Three horizontal bands of red, white and red, the white band twice the height of each red one, with a green cedar tree centered in the white.
History & Symbolism
The flag was adopted on 7 December 1943, as Lebanon won independence from the French mandate. Red stands for the blood shed for liberation, white for peace and the snow of Lebanon's mountains, and the cedar for the strength and endurance of the nation.
