3×5' nylon national flag of the Federated States of Micronesia.
Micronesia's flag grew out of the flag of the UN Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, which bore six white stars on UN blue. When four of those districts formed a federation, they kept the idea and the color, with one star for each state.
Design
A light blue field with four white five-pointed stars arranged in a diamond at the center.
History & Symbolism
The flag was adopted on 30 November 1978. Blue stands for the Pacific Ocean, and the four stars for the states of Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap, arranged like the points of a compass.
