3×5' nylon national flag of Moldova.
Moldova's flag shares its colors with Romania's, a sign of the history and language the two nations share. The coat of arms at its center, an eagle holding a cross above the head of an aurochs, is what makes it Moldova's own.
Design
Three equal vertical bands of blue, yellow and red, with the coat of arms centered in the yellow band. The arms show a golden eagle holding an Orthodox cross in its beak, a scepter and an olive branch, and on its breast a shield with an aurochs head, star, rose and crescent.
History & Symbolism
The tricolor was adopted on 27 April 1990 as Soviet rule weakened, and Moldova declared independence in 1991. The aurochs head is the ancient emblem of the medieval Principality of Moldavia. The eagle stands for the Latin origins of the Moldovan people.

Vexillographer's Note
Romania, Chad and Andorra fly near-identical tricolors. Moldova's 1:2 ratio and its arms are what set it apart.
