3×5' nylon national flag of Nauru.
Nauru's flag is a map. The gold line is the equator, and the star sits just below it, exactly where this small island lies in the Pacific, about one degree south.
Design
A dark blue field with a narrow gold horizontal stripe across the center and a white twelve-pointed star below the stripe, toward the hoist.
History & Symbolism
The flag was adopted at independence on 31 January 1968, after a local design competition. Blue stands for the Pacific Ocean, the gold stripe for the equator, and the star for Nauru itself. Its twelve points stand for the island's twelve original tribes.

Vexillographer's Note
Nauru is one of the smallest nations in the world, and its flag is one of the few to describe its own location so literally.
