3×5' nylon national flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The three green diamonds on this flag describe the islands as the "Gems of the Antilles." Set in a V, they also stand for Vincent.
Design
Three vertical bands of blue, gold and green, the gold band twice the width of the others. Three green diamonds are arranged in a V at the center of the gold.
History & Symbolism
The present flag was adopted on 21 October 1985, replacing the independence flag of 1979, and was designed by the Swiss graphic artist Julien van der Wal. Blue stands for the sky and the Caribbean, gold for warmth and the islands' golden sands, and green for the lush vegetation and the vitality of the people.
