3×5' nylon national flag of Serbia.
Serbia's tricolor is the Russian flag turned upside down, a nineteenth-century tribute to the Slavic power that supported Serbia's struggle against the Ottoman Empire.
Design
Three equal horizontal bands of red, blue and white. The state flag carries the coat of arms toward the hoist: a white double-headed eagle on a red shield, with a smaller shield bearing the Serbian cross and four firesteels, under a royal crown.
History & Symbolism
The tricolor was first adopted in 1835. The present design, with redrawn arms, was adopted on 11 November 2010. The four firesteels around the cross are often read as four Cyrillic letters S, for the motto "Only unity saves the Serbs."
