3×5' nylon national flag of Sudan.
Sudan's flag replaced its independence flag of blue, yellow and green in 1970. The new design joined Sudan to the Pan-Arab color family led by Egypt.
Design
Three equal horizontal bands of red, white and black, with a green triangle at the hoist.
History & Symbolism
The flag was adopted on 20 May 1970. Red stands for the struggle for independence and the sacrifices of the nation's martyrs, white for peace and light, black for Sudan itself (the name comes from the Arabic for "land of the Black peoples") and green for Islam and the land's prosperity.
Flag Specifications

Vexillographer's Note
Sudan's green triangle is the detail that separates it from Egypt, Iraq and Yemen, which use the same three bands.
